Summary:This paper underlines the relevance of sociological research focused on the study of the multiple changes that have affected Mexican rural society over the last decade. It also expects to contribute to the knowledge of the social sector that this rural society belongs to: the small grain producers for the market who are undergoing a transformation encouraged by the new economical policies within the neoliberal framework currently ruling the country. This work attempts to contribute as discussion material both for people who study rural matters, as well as for students who are interested in the subject.
