Summary:The main goal of the presente article is to analise the football during the First World War (1914- 1918). This conflit, named “Great War” by contemporaries, left a strong mark in millions of people. Many football players had reinforced the military forces, so we want to understand the impact of war in football clubs and the life of those players in frontline. For Portugal, matter to analise the effects of this world conflit in national football. By one hand, the war put a lot of problems to the development of this sport. In other side, football adapted and helped the war victims by solidarity games
