Description
Summary:We herein report a case of cornual viable pregnancy thatwas successfully treated with a single dose methotrexatewithout the need for surgical intervention. A 37 yearoldwoman was diagnosed cornual pregnancy based ontransvaginal ultrasound findings and hormonal assays. Asingle dose systemic methotrexate (50 mg/m2) was administered. No side effects were experienced. Early diagnosisof interstitial pregnancy can lead to conservativetreatment options. Although the most effective methotrexateprotocol for conservative treatment is uncertain weconcluded that in the hemodynamically stable patient asingle dose systemic methotrexate treatment is a usefuland should be considered as the first line treatment. Thisis safe and highly effective management even thoughviable fetus or high level of human chorionic gonadotropin(B-hCG) was assigned. Hemodynamic stability is themost important criteria and that is directly correlated withthe early diagnosis. Surgery can be avoided; however, with conservative management a longer and close followupis required. J Clin Exp Invest 2012; 3(1): 105-107
