Description
Summary:The aim of this paper is to analyse the rise of exclusionary ideologies in Europe and, more specifically, in Austria during the last years. The outbreak of the global crisis in 2008 caused that far right parties began to make space within democratic institutions, both at national and European level. To this fact must be added the refugee crisis, used by these ideologies, based on xenophobia, exacerbated nationalism and Euroscepticism, to gain more weight in the European political scene. Meanwhile, the European Union observes astonished and passive how these parties are shaking the foundations of a common project more deficient than previously thought.
