Description
Summary:In the development of the osteomyoarticular system, the basic morphogenetical mechanisms play an important role: induction, migration, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis, which are detected by the action of different teratogenic agents which cause the emergence of diverse anomalies, that can also be caused by mutations in specific genes as those of the homeotic skeletal cage, by factors of fibroblastic growth and by their receptors.  Due to the increase in the incidence of these changes at world level and specifically in Santiago de Cuba province, in the last years, a literature review was carried out to deepen on the congenital malformations of this system, their origin, their characteristics and the way of preventing them.  It was concluded that some of the most harmful teratogens are very used in Cuba and ignorance exists in the population's most vulnerable sectors about this topic.
