Summary: | The article deals with certain communicative tactics and strategies of the host talk show, which allow to control the
course of the conversation, form the program plot, and also distribute the roles of the show participants. As a language
material, the transcripts of the program “Let them talk” are used, which fix the speech of Andrei Malakhov. The publicistic
orientation of A. Malakhov’s speech is manifested by the choice of topics for discussion, problem-setting, the form of discussion and the development of common solutions. The text of the publicistic style is based on the desire to influence the
reader or listener. The leader of the talk show also sets the same goal, because this genre combines several functions at
once. Using expressive vocabulary when submitting material, A. Malakhov emphasizes his sensationalism, as a result, each
discussed situation is presented as extremely important and exclusive, while the facilitator does not show a special variety
in the choice of lexical means and stably uses templated words and phrases. With high frequency in the speech of A. Malakhov typical journalistic turns and clichés are manifested. Specificity of the talk show as a television genre determines the
presence of the colloquial style in the speech of A. Malakhov, and in many cases the conversational style prevails over the
journalistic style. An important role in the texts it produces is played by expressive and evaluative vocabulary. The speaker
correctly uses terms that serve scientific and official business styles, supplementing them with author’s definitions for creating expression. A special place in the speech of Malakhov is spoken and colloquial. This is due to the specifics of the talk
show as a genre, which is a situation of direct communication, as well as the desire to be understood by a wide audience.. |
