En español Es frecuente observar que los estudios sobre la Comunidad Europea adoptan una perspectiva "vertical", centrando su interés en los "grandes temas" económicos, políticos y jurídicos que se vinculan con el funcionamiento del mercado único, las instituciones comunitarias, etc. En este artículo se parte de un punto de vista totalmente diferente, ya que el autor analiza el significado práctico de la Unión para el ciudadano europeo. La libertad de circulación y residencia, el derecho a la participación política, conjuntamente con otros importantes derechos y ventajas son abordados con el enfoque pragmático que caracteriza a toda la exposición. En inglés It is frequent to note that studies on European Community adopt a "vertical" perspective, in the sense that they analyze the big economic, political and juridical issues in connection to the functioning of the internal market, the european institutions and the like. This article provides a completly different picture. The author analyzes the EC with the view to point out its practical meaning for the European Citizen. The freedom of movenment and residence, the right to political participation and other important citizen's rights and advantages are dealt with the same pragmatical style which caracterize the whole article.
