Description
Summary:The aim of this paper is to reflect on the role and meaning of dedications to women in Spanish poetry books printed between 1650 and 1750. After analyzing 38 poetic works dedicated to women, out of a corpus of over 300 works, it can be assumed that there were quantitative and qualitative changes in this kind of paratext in the transition from Golden Age to Low Baroque. Such changes have to do with the increasing presence of women in book culture and a more active role in both poetic production and literary sanction in the period 1650-1750.
