| Summary: | The article covers the development of Open Access activities in the context of policy implemented by public authorities with the focus on Polish experiences, and the framework of European Union. The text presents major functions of Open Access from the point of view of public authorities. Furthermore, it investigates the influence of the European Union on Polish Open Access policy, as well, as outlines primary documents and actions of public authorities concerning Open Access in Poland. Finally, a new Polish law on higher education and science adopted on 20 June 2018 has been analysed with respect to Open Access. Considering a new legal framework, and the challenges for the future development of Open Access in Poland have been discussed. |
