The aim of this article is to present the environmental benefits of one of the most popular materials worldwide. Its physical and thermal properties, degradation phenomena and preservation treatments are shown. However, facing these important environmental qualities we must be cautious due to excessive felling that points out Mexico as one of the most carefree world countries in this regard, and it forces us to consider other alternatives such as bamboo.
