Description
Summary:In 2018 the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch presented two new shows created by the choreographers Dimitris Papaioannou and Alan Lucien Øyen, respectively. The crisis that had opened with the death of Pina Bausch in 2009 led to a series of different artistic directions and a productive standstill during which the ensemble dedicated itself to restaging choreographies and the transmission of the Bausch repertoire. The essay examines the new creations, Since She by Dimitris Papaioannou and Bon Voyage, Bob by Alan Lucien Øyen, putting in relation the links with the company’s past and its repertoire, elements that the new creations, while remaining original, modulate and articulate within their dramaturgy.
