Summary:The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of music activities incorporating Soundbeam technology on improving the development of children with multiple disabilities. Four 2-6 year-old children with multiple disabilities enrolled at an early intervention center in central Taiwan were selected by purposive sampling to participate. The duration was 16 weeks with 50-minute instructional sessions once per week. The methodology of the study used a quantitative analysis to measure validity based on assessment scales used in the observation forms by three observers and a qualitative study using interviews with parents and researcher’s teaching log. The results of the study were the following: 1. Through the music activities incorporating Soundbeam technology the participants’ positive emotions were elicited progressively. 2. Music activities incorporating Soundbeam technology have positive effects on the communication skills for children with multiple disabilities. After obtaining positive results for the participants, the researcher values a high degree of applying Soundbeam technology with music activities in the field of special education.
