Description
Summary:One of the main methods of evaluation of the scientific activity is the system of scientometric indicators. Despite the criticism it becomes more common throughout the world. At the same time, most of the Ukrainian scientific periodicals are not integrated in any scientometric system. This fact prevents the possibility of using a set of statistical indicators for the analysis of the national publication activity. Assessing the representation of scientific journals of Ukraine in the top three scientometric databases (Web of Science – 18 items; Scopus – 68; Russian index of scientific citation – 531), and the level of requirements of each system for journals including, one can conclude that the Russian index of scientific citation is the optimal database for the integration of all domestic scientific periodicals. The thorough use of scientometric indicators systems is possible only when 100% of peer-reviewed scientific journals of Ukraine is integrated into this system. Appropriate paragraphs should be added to the documents controlling the activity of scientific specialized issues.
