For the analysis, situational and social competences are highlighted, in particular, result orientation, organization, communication, self-confidence, adaptability, teamwork, flexibility. Possession of competencies is the basis of the professional activity of any employee, which can increase the efficiency of the enterprise in order to achieve strategic goals and objectives. An important list of competencies for a research assistant of a higher school in a branch is proposed. The competencies in question can be recommended for the appointment of this position. The historical aspect of the emergence of the concept of competence is described. It is shown that each enterprise, for higher efficiency, needs to identify and maintain a high level of personnel competence. Based on the identified competencies, it is possible to build an acceptable model of competencies. This paper describes the assessment of personnel using an expert method based on the coefficient of concordance. The applicability of this method of applying the Kendall concordance coefficient (or the multiple rank correlation coefficient), which is used to identify the consistency of expert opinions on several factors, in this case, competencies, is shown. The authors draw conclusions about the assessment of specialists within the framework of this model of competencies, as important competencies for a given organization, due to the complication of personnel assessment and the emergence of new requirements for personnel.https://repository.kvantor.org/public/126/3839
