Summary:The aim of this works is approached from the point of view chemotaxonomic disputes that currently exist in relation to the internal classification of the family Caprifoliaceae. For this was a comprehensive literature review of several of the species that make up this family; the review devoted itself not only to the achievement of botanical and phytochemical work aspect, but to search for any other information chemotaxonomic character. Through it was possible to establish important relations with respect to the internal division of this family, which they were based primarily on the presence or absence of certain secondary metabolites that in this case they serve as chemotaxonomic markers. With all this it can reach important conclusions regarding the taxonomic status of this family, which substantiate the latest systematic proposals proposed for this family.
