The performance of cellular manufacturing (CM) ~ystems has been rigorously investigated during the last two decades, but the extent ofempirical research on CM is limited. The major objective ofthis study is to examine the relationship between critical success factors (infrastructure, organizational immersion, autonomous management. team-oriented organizational structure, and labor union), employee attitudes toward implementation. andperformance ofCMsystems. Resultsfrom the analyses ofthe sample companies provide partial support for a positive relationship between key success factors and performance. The results also show that differences exist in pe1jormance of organizations grouped by the degree of employees attitudes.
