The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance in live weight gain (LWG)  and economic of Nellore heifers in two strategies of alimentary supplementation: energy-protein (EP) and urea-salt (US). Twelve heifers with approximately twenty months old and initial live weight 306+21 kg were evaluated. The heifers had been kept in renewed pastures of Brachiaria brizantha cv Marandu. The duration of the experiment was of 55 days. The LWG and LWG/ha (live weight gain for hectare) were evaluated. For the economic analysis was considered operational cost, gross revenue, gross margin and the financial return direct. The heifers of EP showed 0.71 kg/animal/day higher than 0.43 kg/animal/day for SU (P<0.05). Although it was observed a better animal performance for heifers  suplemented with energy and protein, such  result was not confirmed on the  economic performance.<br /><br />Key words: Economic performance, energy-protein supplements, rearing of heifers, weight profit.<br /><br /> O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho produtivo de ganho em peso e econômico de novilhas Nelore mediante duas estratégias de suplementação alimentar: suplementação energético-proteica (EP) e sal com ureia (SU).  Utilizaram-se doze novilhas, com idade média de vinte meses e peso vivo médio inicial de 306+21kg. As novilhas foram mantidas em pastagens renovadas de Brachiaria brizantha cv Marandu. A duração do experimento foi de 55 dias. Avaliaram-se o ganho médio diário (GMD) e o ganho de peso vivo por hectare (GPV/ha). Para a análise econômica, consideraram-se o custo operacional, a receita bruta, a margem bruta e o retorno financeiro direto. O GMD foi de 0,71 kg/animal/dia para as novilhas do EP e de 0,43 kg/animal/dia para SU, apresentando diferença significativa. Embora tenha havido melhor desempenho em ganho de peso nas novilhas suplementadas com energia e proteína, tal resultado não foi confirmado no desempenho econômico.<br /><br />Palavras-chaveS: Desempenho econômico, ganho em peso, recria de novilhas, suplementação energético-proteica.<br />
