Description
Summary:The practice of leisure sports facilitates the integration of many migrants in their new host country, all the while preserving networks of community sociability. Community sport, which in France is a practice exercised in minority, can be explained, when it is practiced because of national or ethnical origins, by several reasons connected to the social conditions of existence, but also to the discriminations and identity strategies of long-established local clubs, which can be interpreted as some forms of community withdrawal. The paper offers to question the sports practice in Alsace of footballers originating from Maghreb and Turkey, in order to check whether these populations do or do not gather together according to their origins. Being the first immigrant community in Alsace, the Turkish community will be the subject of a thorough examination.
