Description
Summary:Morphometric analysis of the steppe elephant Mammuthus armeniacus (FALCONER) allowed confirmation of the species determination of this rare Middle Pleistocene fossil. Comparison of this data with morphometric measurements of another skull of M. armeniacus from Gelsenkirchen (Germany), indicate greater compression of the Croatian specimen, and highlight the morphological variability of the species. This example of the M. armeniacus increases the known paleogeographic distribution of the species.
