Summary: | The violence of a past event has obvious consequences on the formation of the subjectivity of the generations that come after the event itself. This article analyzes the subjective effects of the Spanish Civil War through two films: El mar (2000) by Agustí Villaronga and En la ciudad sin límites (2001) by Antonio Hernández. It will be shown that the past can be either cause of fascination or taken as a narration through which the subject intertwines past and present. We see that what is at stake is Jouissance versus Creation. |
