Summary:This article introduces the report entitled Gendering Canada’s Refugee Process released by Status of Women Canada in June 2006. The research investigates how, when, and why gender matters in Canadian refugee determination. It sets this inquiry in the context of changes brought in by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, as well as changes that have occurred due to the post– September 11 security climate. The article reflects on the research methodology and highlights the key conclusions of the report. The report’s seventy-nine recommendations are also presented here.
