Description
Summary:The paper analyses the migration situation in Russia that has resulted from the crisis of the socio-economic system, the disintegration of the Union, and the development of national conflicts in the CIS countries and in the Baltic states. Data is given on forced migration from the CIS countries to Russia. The author presents the results of sociological research on non-voluntary migrants in several Russian regions. The research revealed problems of living conditions and adaptation among (mostly Russian) migrants from the CIS countries and the Baltic in Russia, the relations with the local population and official structures, juridical, psychological and other problems of adaptation among people that have become practically foreigners in their own country. Furthermore, the paper presents several brief interviews with individual migrants on their life in Russia.
