| Summary: | The aim of this article is to compare the insurrections that took place in Vienna in February 1934 and in Madrid in October of the same year. They were both led by socialist parties ?the only two instances in European history in which socialist parties took this kind of action?, both were based on the experience of communist insurrections, involving the action of a paramilitary organization together with a general strike. This article analyses and compares the paramilitary organizations, the plans and the insurrections themselves in both cities. | El objetivo de este artículo es comparar los procesos insurreccionales producidos en Viena en febrero de 1934 y en Madrid en octubre del mismo año. Ambos fueron protagonizados por partidos socialistas ?las dos únicas ocasiones en la historia europea que partidos socialistas realizaron este tipo de acciones?, se basaron en la experiencia insurreccional comunista, y partieron de la acción de una organización paramilitar acompañada de una huelga general. Se analizan y comparan las organizaciones paramilitares, los proyectos y la insurrección misma en ambas ciudades. |
