État, méthodes et outilsNatasha Chayaamor-Heil François Guéna Nazila Hannachi-BelkadiBiomimicry inspires innovation in diverse fields. It has a significant impact in the architectural field, where it can lead to innovations directly related to design of sustainable built-environment. As an interdisciplinary field, architecture is being influenced by many aspects of the natural and social sciences. Among these influences, biological inspiration is currently dominating the era. The bio-inspired design framework has evolved and shifted towards different innovative approaches, especially with the advancements in the computer technologies and its use in architecture. This article aims to identify the main characteristics of the biomimetic architecture, in terms of bio-inspired architecture and through a state of knowledge in the field and a significant case study. The goal is to show how the use of biomimetic design methodologies could lead to innovations in architecture to meet current environmental challenges. However, architects do not yet have the means to access these biomimetic methodologies neither to use them effectively. Thus, we present at the end of this article the characteristics of a platform of tools that could facilitate biomimetic design approach in the field of architecture.http://journals.openedition.org/craup/309biomimicryarchitectureinterdisciplinary collaborationeco-innovationtools
