Summary:Development of power interconnections in Northeast Asia becomes not only engineering but also a political issue. More research institutes are involved in the Asian Super Grid initiative discussion, as well as more politicians mention power interconnection opportunities. UNESCAP started providing a platform for intragovernmental discussion of the issue. However, there are still a lack of comprehensive modern research of the Asian Super Grid. Moreover, there is no unified data base and no unified power routes concept. Therefore, this article discusses a tool for optimal power routes selection and suggest a concept of the unified data portal.
