Fashion designers are looking for a variety of solutions to the pressure in questions, and they directly use formal analogy as one of the ways out. Direct formal analogy, which is one of the types of analogy defined as reasoning through transition from private to general, is one of the methods frequently used by architects and designers in the creation processes. In the first part of the study, the concepts of analogy and design and the cooperation between the two will be discussed. In the second stage, examples of working for the use of the elements of daily life in the city as a source of inspiration have been included within the scope of the use of urban elements directly in casual clothing design with formal analogy method. The sample of designs were selected from Atılım University Fashion and Textile Design Department 2nd grade students works which were created in the 2018-2019 academic year. The examples were described by how students interpret the concrete elements that they photographed throughout the city with the direct (figural) analogy method in the design of apparel, with inspiration board and final product visuals.http://www.ulakbilge.com/makale/pdf/1548413588.pdffigural analogyfashion designinspirationdesign process
