Summary: | Otoacoustic emissions occurs by the movement of cochlear outer hair cells. They are mild level acoustic energy emissions which can be recorded from external auditory canal. Through these records, the presence of hearing could be evaluated. After the introduction of emission measurement techniques, this approach is applied in a wide range. Otoacoustic emission can help the evaluation of the hearing in newborn, children under 3 years old and patients who have language problems and difficulty in cooperation.
