Description
Summary:The evaluation of technological quality of new sugarcane varieties is essential to obtain best sugar yield and choose the best variety for each region. The objective was evaluating technological quality of sugarcane varieties during four harvest times at Tietê, which is a sugarcane region but there is few works about this subject. The experiment was carried out in Kandiustalf soil, using complete randomized blocks with four repetitions and nine sugarcane varieties (IAC 86 2480; IAC 91 1099; IAC87 3396; IACSP 94-4004; IACSP 93-6006; IACSP 93-3046; IACSP 94-2094; IACSP 94-2101; RB 86 7515). Four sugarcane harvest were done (January, March, May and July/ 2008) and the parameters related to the technological quality (brix, pol sugars, total reducing sugar, cane fiber and the maturation index) were obtained. The technological quality was influenced by sugarcane varieties in all harvest times. The pol values were increased in function ofharvest time. The IAC SP 91-1099 showed best brix value at July and there is no difference between varieties in other harvest time. The maturation index was similar among sugarcane varieties and IAC SP 94-2094 e 94-2101 began this process earlier. The IACSP 93-6006 and IAC 86 2480 showed low fiber content, which could be problem to this region.
