Description
Summary:This paper aims at describing and classifying the discourse used by a group of university students on the topics of city and citizenship. To reach that purpose, the article uses the results of a descriptive and ethnographic survey conducted with 15 students from five universities located in Manizales (Colombia), and who belong to different majors and semesters. The analysis showed that the students’ discourse is conceptually and factually restricted to their immediate frame of reference (neighborhood, family and group of friends). Therefore, they conceive the relationship between city and citizenship from their daily life and not as part of a relevant political practice whose main sense is justice.
