Summary: | In the private higher education sector, increased competition and the search for better results with greater speed, are creating new demands in these institutions, forcing them to make their most efficient and effective management practices. In this context, higher education institutions need a more systemic approach to assessing institutional performance, generating appropriate indicators to measure the effectiveness of cause - effect of its strategy and aiding decision making. Thus, this article aims to present a proposal BSC application deployed in the areas of management, teaching, research and extension as a performance evaluation system in a Higher Education Institution Community (HEIC). The research has a qualitative approach is exploratory and descriptive, adopting literature search strategies, document and case study. The research suggested that it is possible to deploy the BSC in a HEIC in the areas of teaching, research, extension and management. Thus, the proposed system will allow the translation of strategy into operational terms, aligning the key activities and involving all in one direction.
