The Significance of “Repose” in the <i>Apophthegmata Patrum</i>

While “repose” in the <em>Apophthegmata</em> can refer to comfort or hospitality or eternal peace, mostly it is found to mean spiritual tranquility, and some passages illustrate that this was the goal of those who took refuge in the desert.
