Summary:This article discusses the perceptions and competence management model from top management in companies of Bogotá. The paper includes two experiences, developed in the framework of the professional specialization in Human Resources Management at Konrad Lorenz University, whose findings are discussed in this document. The methodology focuses on case analysis having as techniques for gathering information the documentary review, a focus group and interviews with Human Resource Managers on 7 companies of Bogotá. The results reveal that the competence management system in these companies has gained great importance in the strategy of organiza-tions in recent decades and that in practice different strategies are used for its promotion, however, there are still difficulties and lack of clarity on the implementation of competency management model in most of all analyzed cases.
