Description
Summary:This study aims to analyze in terms of functional reuse of heritage the buildings located in the historical center of Bucharest, a special attention being given to those located on the street "Lipscani". For the study it was used a methodology based on which the inventory of the heritage buildings was transposed as a GIS database. After processing the database, it has highlighted the degree of conservation of the buildings from the study area, a large number of them being classified as historical monuments. Also, an assessment of the buildings from the perspective of suitability for various reuses was done, using multi-criteria method. The analysis of the buildings reuse was oriented to the cultural direction (the creative industries), meant to contribute to the urban regeneration of the area. The authors don’t exclude the economic reuse of the historic buildings if this is in accordance to the strict rules for the historical monuments restoration and if they highlight the historic and architectural valences. Based on the study results it can be appreciated that some buildings were restored conformable to the rules and were cultural reused; other heritage buildings, in an advanced state of degradation, were demolished, on the open land being raised buildings that don’t fit perfectly with the architecture of the area and that have commercial function.
