Summary:Splenic abscess is a rare clinical entity with an incidenceof 0.2 to 0.7% in autopsy series. The mortality of the diseasereaches to 100% without treatment. Splenic abscessis a diagnostic challenge in emergency surgery due to itsprognostic nature. The diagnosis is difficult because of itsrarity and often subtle clinical manifestations of splenicabscess, a high index of suspicion is necessary to makeaccurate diagnosis. Herein, we reported two cases ofsplenic abscess managed by surgical intervention. Surgeons,emergency doctors or whoever consults patientsin emergency department must be aware of this condition,in order to make a proper management approachand reduce mortality and morbidity.
