Description
Summary:This article examines the contours of urban hospitality in Park and Joseph works. Joseph draws inspiration from the work of human ecology to consider urban hospitality from the point of view of public spaces and civic order. Human ecology, however, shows rather an inhospitable city, where enclaves are much more present than public spaces and where social disorganization prevails. This article, by working on the gap between Park's thoughts and Joseph's ones, proposes an approach to urban hospitality less "minimal" than Joseph's one, and likely to extend into the question of political belonging Park is concerned about.
