The Spanish liberal exile of 1823 relighted its hopes of returning to Spain after the Revolution of July in 1830. The triumph of liberalism in France boosted the settle of a great part of those exiles in the border of the Pyrenees, where they tried to plan a military incursion to defeat the absolutism of Ferdinand VII. The liberal cause was based not only in the armed fight, but also in the diplomatic relationships and the public opinion. Both were important aspects to consider if they wanted to have success and achieved their goal. The newspaper El Precursor of Andrés Borrego, published in Paris during the last months of 1830, contributed to liberalism with its numbers. The aim of this research work is to analyse the different political proposals, perspectives and news that appeared in this publication and its relation with Andrés Borrego’s ideology, the political context and the inner situation of the liberal exile.
