Comparison of newly formed microcracks after instrumentation using Protaper Next, Reciproc and Self-Adjusting File systems

PurposeThe purpose of the present study is to assess the rate of newly formed microcrackscomparatively during root canal instrumentation by using ProTaper Next, Reciproc, and Self-Adjusting File systems using micro-computed tomography.Subjects and MethodsThirty mesial roots of mandibular molars were...

Cross-section images were examined to identify the presence of newlyformed dentinal microcracks.ResultsThe Self-Adjusting File and Reciproc systems caused a higher rate of new microcrackformation than the ProTaper Next group (p < 0.001). There were also significantdifferences in the new microcrack formation between Reciproc and Self-AdjustingFile groups (p < 0.001).ConclusionReciproc and Self-Adjusting File systems caused a higher rate of newly formedmicrocraks compared to ProTaper Next system.https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/eor/issue/43439/529665dentinal microcracksmicro–computed tomographyprotaper nextreciprocself-adjusting file
