Consideraciones éticas y sociales en la enfermedad de Alzheimer

La investigación en pacientes con enfermedad de Alzheimer da lugar a cuestiones éticas y legales difíciles, a causa, entre otros factores, del deterioro cognoscitivo que presentan estos enfermos. Las principales fuentes de conflicto ético en esta enfermedad pueden ubicarse en la investigación y los ensayos clínicos, el diagnóstico, la relación médico-paciente y la asesoría legal. El conocimiento por los médicos e investigadores de los princios éticos de autonomía, la no maleficiencia, beneficiencia, la veracidad, la justicia y la confidencialidad, son herramientas útiles en la práctica diaria. En el presente trabajo se hace referencia a estos principios éticos y su interacción en la enfermedad de Azheimer.<br>The investigation of patients with Alzheimer's disease gives rise to difficult ethical and legal questions due, among other factors, to the cognitive deterioration of these patients. The main sources of ethical conflict in this disease may be found in the investigation, clinical assays, diagnosis, the physician-patient relationship and legal advisory. The knowledge of doctors and investigators about the ethical principles of autonomy, non-wrongdoing, beneficence, veracity, justice and reliability are useful tools in daily practice. Reference is made in this paper to these ethical principles and their interaction in Alzheimer's disease.
