Observaciones del humanismo griegoEthel Junco de Calabrese0Universidad PanamericanaIn a historic moment where humanist-like movements face ideologies of escalating violence, we present a reading focused on the semantics of aidós as a precedent of the concept of mercy, to be the aim of this paper. The lines of intercultural continuity are emphasized here. We will make a critical literary analysis about two key texts: first, Homer, who in an archaic horizon considers the foundation of decorum and honor in the human essence, understood in its divine filiation; second, Plato, who moves the mythical reminiscence to the scenario of the ideal Athenian democracy, evoked by the time of Pericles. From the analysis we turn to comparison, in order to establish relations of meaning. The call to mercy of this Holy Year as well as the historical context of globalization and its circumstances of hostility (migration, discrimination, gender violence) are the background data for analysis. The findings emphasize the consistency of Greek humanism to provide criteria for personal and social stability.https://revistas.usb.edu.co/index.php/Franciscanum/article/view/2845/2467HomerPlatoaidósmercysocial order
