Summary:The composition of Brachyura inhabiting natural hard substrata at Coqueiro Beach, on the coast of Luís Correia (Piauí), is presented. A total of 20 species of Brachyura were recorded, eight of which were not previously registered for the state: Epialtus bituberculatus H. Milne Edwards, 1834; Acantholobulus schmitti (Rathbun, 1930); Pachygrapsus transversus (Gibbes, 1850); Panopeus austrobesus Williams, 1983; Panopeus occidentalis Saussure, 1857; Pilumnus dasypodus Kingsley, 1879; Pilumnus spinosissimus Rathbun, 1898; and Planes cyaneus Dana, 1851. The Indo-Pacifi c species Charybdis hellerii (Milne Edwards, 1867) was also identified. The most diverse family was Xanthidae with nine species of crabs, followed by Grapsidae (3), Portunidae (4), Majidae with two species, and Calappidae and Ocypodidae with a single species each.
