Description
Summary:The purpose of this research was to predict the marriage propensity among students based on self-differentiation and family of origin health components. The statistical population of this correlative study consisted of all students of Shadid Beheshti vocational and technical university of Karaj during 2013-2014 academic year. A sample of 266 male students selected as by cluster sampling. The research tools were questionnaire of “Marriage Propensity Meter” (Heydari, Mazaheri and Pooretemad, 2003), the Family of Origin Scale (FOS; Hovestadt, et al., 1985), and “Differentiation of Self Inventory” (DSI; Skowron, E, A. et al, (1998). Data were analyzed with Pierson correlation coefficient and multivariable regression. The results showed relationship between independence in one step and variances of feedback to marriage, preparation for marriage, marriage obstacles and total score of marriage propensity. In addition, admixture with others in one step determined feedback to marriage; the I position in one step determined feedback of viewpoint to marriage; the affective avoidance and admixture with others in two steps determined feedback of preparation for marriage; affective avoidance in one-step determined feedback of marriage obstacles; and I position in one-step determined feedback of marriage propensity. Findings revealed the relationship between “the main family health components” (Big Five Inventory) and “differentiation of self” (DSI) with marriage propensity among students. Thus, applying them in pre-marriage training programs, treatment and developmental interventions could be taken serious.
