For example, he found members of the same family from Pontic Heracleia in the Tauric Chersones and in Kallatis. In inscriptions from Amastris and Kaisareia-Hadrianopolis he believes he has identified two brothers who are the sons of a certain Quirinus. A certain Hermoxenos, son of Xenon, appears in a list of names from the village of Çiftliköy near Yalova and is believed by the author to be identifiable with a person honoured by the ‹Damos of the Pratomyseitai›. Another identification can be furnished by the author in the case of a family whose members appear in a dedicatory and funeral inscription in the territory of Nikaia. The next chapter is devoted to the correct understanding of another funeral inscription from Nikaia: A freedman set up a gravestone for his master from the family of the Granii. These remarks are followerd by comments on freedmen from the family of the Pagnii from Nikaia. Finally, an incorrect addition to another inscription from this Bithynian metropolis and a phantom name in an inscription from Arykanda are eliminated.https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/gephyra/issue/18371/193963?publisher=nalan-eda-akyurek-sahin--- |
