Summary:The article deals with the lexical and syntactical names of asteroids, their etymology, its patterns and features; it is determined which ones are concreted to Ukraine. Out of 15 000 names, some words-coalescences were selected and classified into groups by birth names. It is determined that asteroids were named after: physicists and astronomers, other scientists, employees of observatories etc., relatives and friends of researchers, writers, actors, teachers, musicians, singers, artist, pilots and astronauts, famous historical figures, journalists, composers, athletes, filmmakers, sponsors and philanthropists, literary characters, architects, sculptors, philosophers, other person and characters, place names and ergonyms, bionyms, idioms. The exact etymology of some names is not installed. It is established that lexico-syntactical derivation (coalescence) can be combined with other methods: suffixation, composition, telescopition, abbreviation.
