Summary:In order to improve the performance of Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motor, Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) based controller technique is applied in this paper. Control strategy and SVPWM technique are clearly described and BLDC motor is modelled in abc reference frame. PI controller was preferred because of it’s well response and implementation simplicity. Even though increasing amount of producible torque and decreasing of torque ripple, SVPWM method is not often preferred for BLDC Motor control because SVPWM method was mainly developed for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Control and it requires so much processing power. After developments on processor technology, usage of SVPWM method for BLDC Motor Control has become reasonable. In this paper, applicability and achievement of SVPWM based control of BLDC Motor is verified and supported with MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation results.
