Warthin like papillary carcinoma - A rare variant of papillary carcinoma thyroid

Warthin-like variant is one of the histologic variants of papillary thyroid cancer that has rarely been reported. It is classically seen in females over the age of 50 years. Clinical presentation and prognosis is similar to that of classic papillary thyroid cancer. Its frequent association with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and unique morphological features make it easily recognizable on histologic examination. The cytological diagnosis is difficult due to the overlap of findings with the classical variant and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Here, we present a case of a 42 year old male who presented with one year old thyroid swelling which was progressive and non-tender. Microscopically we reported it as a Warthin –like papillary carcinoma thyroid.
