| Summary: | The insertion of culture in development management is becoming increasingly important. The objective of this research was to value the local development process expressed in the Municipal Development Strategy of San Cristóbal, province of Artemisa, with a view to its improvement from the cultural point of view. The fundamental methods were based on the collection and review of secondary sources, analysis and synthesis, deductive-inductive, in addition to the collection and analysis of primary sources, supported by the structured interview and the questionnaire survey as a technique, in addition to the triangulation of the results obtained from the application of the methodological resources mentioned. It is made a critical review of the vision of development that prevails in the selected case study, the contributions of the cultural dimension and the recommendations that it deserves from the conceptual, methodological and practical point of view. The main conclusion is the need to update the strategy by the Council of the Municipal Administration, with the purpose of correcting its weak conception from the cultural dimension.
