The purpose of this paper is to explore the meaning and application of hermeneutics in LIS research. The raising of hermeneutical approach to LIS research is investigated. The origin and schools of hermeneutics are also described. Finally, the use of hermeneutical approach to study information objects, information context, information intermediator, and research methodology are suggested.</span></span></span></p>
