Description
Summary:Depending on localization of pain source there are somatic pain (a source is in the bone-muscular system) and visceral, arising from the internal organs. If the pain is caused by irritation of pain receptors (without their damage), it is considered to be a nociceptic pain. In case of damage of pain system struсtures it belongs to a neuropatic pain. Craniomandibulary somatogenic pain which dentists most often face are mainly nociceptic. Results of the special research conducted by us on the study of the mechanism of action and efficacy of blockades show that particularly miofascial trigger points (MTP) are the main sources of craniomandibular pains, and that injection of NSAID in МТP is an effective and safe method of arresting pain in case of miofascial pain syndrome.
