Summary: | The paper analyses the situation of education in Europe: after fifteen years of educational policies that put education at the service of markets, the educational concept of "competence approach" is being implemented in most European countries. This approach stresses the need to train students so that companies can have access to a workforce that is adaptive and flexible in an increasingly unpredictable economic environment. The European Commission and decision makers in education are to maintain the same policies ahead of 2020, despite their attested failure so far. |
