This update introduces the requirements for Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) for buildings other than dwellings and embraces a minimum renewable energy contribution. This paper is based on the draft Part L 2017 and explores the potential impact the update has on current building design strategies, using a Dublin city centre office building as an example. The paper outlines the simulation procedures using a currentlyavailable software program and compares the building design strategies for compliance with Part L 2008 to the requirements for compliance with draft Part L 2017.https://arrow.tudublin.ie/sdar/vol5/iss1/2/
